I began my career in print in the 1990s, working in small copy shops, designing new work and digitizing older print materials, often recreating them to match the originals exactly. After moving to a larger 4-color printer, I spent several years as an in-house production designer for the tourism and golf divisions, where I developed techniques using InDesign tables to streamline golf scorecard production. There, I became a senior designer and eventually led the Prepress department, guiding the company through the transition from film to computer-to-plate systems. In this role, I spent several years developing imposition and file management standards for gang-run printing.
In the next phase of my career, I worked as an in-house designer and prepress technician for various commercial printers specializing in books and specialty finishing, with both digital and offset printing. I enjoyed working on books more than any other project type in my career. I discovered a natural talent for both book design and file preparation.
I currently work as a Prepress Technician at a global packaging manufacturer, where I prep files for national brands in the pharmaceutical and home entertainment industries.
I am available for freelance graphic design and print consulting.
